Product Review | Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup ($50, Macy's)

Straight from the Chanel website, this has a soft, water-light texture and light-to-medium coverage, the tiniest drop of this hybrid fluid foundation creates a natural, luminous complexion. Skin looks refined and feels   refreshed, creating an exquisite makeup experience. It contains "High Definition Light" pigments to ensure a radiant, luminous and even complexion. Hyaluronic Acid maintains moisture and SPF 15 provides UVB protection.

It is funny how a month can change. I purchased this towards the end of 2016 and it was $48 at Macy's and now the price has increased by $2. I had been very impressed with my first ever Chanel product, Soleil Tan De Chanel and wanted to try more products from this luxury brand. What intrigued me about this liquid makeup is its claims on having a water-light texture while providing a luminous and even complexion. I love my liquid makeup to look natural, almost skin-like, hence the reason I enjoy lighter makeup products.

The packaging is not what I expected. It is made up of plastic that matches the shade of the foundation and a regular black cap. It has a squeeze top instead of a pump or spatula, however, it makes sense due to the fact that this product has a water-light texture and very thin consistency.  I purchased mine in Beige 40, which at first I thought was dark but once applied and blended on to the skin, it matched my skin color. This is very easy to use and apply on the skin especially with the use of a Beauty Blender or any other beauty sponge of your liking. I feel that a brush would make a very streaky application due to the thin consistency of this product. It is extremely light-weight on the face and it feels nice and soft. I love how natural-looking it is yet still leaving the skin with some color and luminosity.

If you love a high coverage foundation, you are not going to like this, especially for its price tag. I recently purchased the E.L.F. Beautifully Bare Serum Foundation and in my opinion, the consistency is somewhat similar as well as the finish on the skin. However, they are two different products. The price tag is a high for a light coverage liquid makeup, however, I feel that it definitely gives the skin vibrance and life without the cake-face. Would I repurchase? Yes. Would I recommend? Only if you love light coverage as much as I do.
