Product Review | E.L.F. Hydrating Soothing Serum

Product Review | E.L.F. Hydrating Soothing Serum ($12, E.L.F. website) : According to E.L.F., Purified Water and essential nutrients help lock-in moisture to reduce the look of fine lines for glowing, healthy looking skin.  This silky serum is infused with nourishing Jojoba, Aloe and Vitamin E to soothe and protect the delicate skin area. It is also rich in antioxidants, Shea Butter and Grape.

The teal-green and silver packaging is very appealing to me.  Packaging is everything at first glance.  Yet another simple but exquisite packaging from E.L.F.  I love that it has a pump to go with it.  Extra bonus.  Now on to the product.  I like it, but I do not love it.  Let me tell you first what I love about this product.  It does its job in providing hydration and leaves the skin looking healthy and glowing.  I enjoy using this product during the daytime and nighttime if I am not going to wear any make up.  Why is that?  The Serum has a similar texture to their Moisturizing Sleeping Mask.  So it is not actually a serum.  It is a cream with a gel-like finish to the skin.  The product takes a while for the skin (at least it is on my skin) to absorb so unless you have about 15-30 minutes to spare before putting on your makeup this product is perfect.  However, since it has a gel-like feel once on the skin, just imagine if you put on a primer on top of it and foundation when it has not been absorbed by skin yet or if it hasn't dried yet.  It will make your foundation tacky and it will move product around like it's nobody's business.  It does not care if you use a Marc Jacobs Foundation Brush or a Beauty Blender, if the serum is still slightly wet when you apply makeup, forget it.  You might as well be prepared to be late and do it over again.

Other than that, as a skincare product on its own, it is very good, in my opinion.  Would I repurchase? Maybe.  The only reason I am saying that is I have other skincare products that I use prior to applying makeup that does not disturb the application of any foundation or cream products and they do not take long for the skin to absorb.
