Product Review | The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer

Product Review | The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer ($4.90, Deciem website)

Products Details (from Deciem's website): This formula uses advanced adaptive silicones to act as a matte, hydrating, blurring primer for makeup that looks higher in definition and adheres for longer. The formula can also be used alone as a non-greasy hydrator that reduces the looks of pores and of imperfections.

Review: I purchased this in May along with The Ordinary Serum foundation.  However, I used it for the very first time when I traveled to San Francisco at the of July (they were so backed up with orders that I did not receive mine until the end of June).  The packaging is simple but classic, in my opinion - a white box with silver accent and black typography.  The squeeze tube is silver and white, with black typography and a frosted cap/cover.  The consistency of the product is lightweight, it feels like a mix of silicone and cream.  On its own, I really enjoyed the product (both in mild summer weather in San Francisco and in extreme heat in Los Angeles) as it does hydrate the skin and it is non-greasy.  As always, I am not the best person to test pore-filling or pore-minimizing products as I have very small to almost invisible pores.  When I used this when I was in San Francisco, I was not a fan.  While my makeup adhered to it, I also noticed that it moved my makeup around, especially under the eye area and on the forehead (keep in mind, I am not a full coverage gal and use very minimal foundation).  It just made those areas of my face patchy.  It made me think that the cooler weather might have affected it, but my tried and true primers do not move any liquid products around that way, no matter what the season is.

However, when I tried this primer at home in Los Angeles, it worked! I have tried it with the same foundation I used in San Francisco and with a bunch of other ones to make sure it was not the foundation that was disrupting the performance of the primer.  Somehow, I feel that for my normal skin, this primer works under warmer weather conditions.  I will definitely use this primer up as I love how it is on its own without makeup, but I will not be repurchasing as I want my primers to work well under different weather conditions.

Have you tried this product? Did you experience the same thing I did? Do you like it (or not)?
