Review:  I used to love the original Hard Candy Sheer Envy Primer.  I remember my friend used to pick them up for me since she lived close to a Wally World many years ago.  I do not live close to one right now but my husband and I have recently discovered their Next Day Delivery option and while looking for house cleaning products, I browsed through Hard Candy cosmetics they have available online.  I stumbled upon this mattifying primer and became curious about it.  I do not have oily or combination skin but some of my tinted moisturizers (particularly the Colourpop Hyaluronic Tinted Moisturizer) leaves me with a slight oily feel at the end of the day.  I think part of it is that the moisturizer itself does not set on its own.  Long story short, I want to try a mattifying primer to pair with the Colourpop Tinted Moisturizer (it is a good one so I wanted to make it work by using a mattifying primer).

This does not come with a box, instead in a shrink wrap.  The primer has a gel-like consistency.  It feels smoothing when massaged on the skin but I can feel its mattifying properties once it has melted on the skin.  This primer is easy to apply and it does not pill like many gel-like primers.  This extends  the wear of my makeup and when paired with the Colourpop Tinted Moisturizer, it does not make my skin feel oily at the end of the day.  So far this primer is working out for me and I am enjoying it, especially for its price point (and Wally World's Next Day Delivery option is an added bonus).  I am still interested in trying out the ELF Matte Putty Primer so I can compare it with this primer.  Since I do not typically use a mattifying primer,  once I compare how the two works I will only keep one of them.   If you have oily skin, I am not sure how a gel-like consistency will work for your skin type.  However, if you have normal to dry skin and just need this primer for random reasons such as pairing it with a certain liquid product, this might do the job for you.
