Product Review | Laura Mercier Editorial Eye Palette Intense Clays

Laura Mercier Editorial Eye Palette Intense Clays (This is a complimentary product sent to me by Influenster for testing purposes but they retail for $48, Sephora) :

According to the information card that came with the box, this is a studio-inspired, high-performance Brushed Metal & Matte Textured Clays with an Air-light Powder. The clays give intense color in a whole new graphic way. You can use an eyeshadow smudge or crease brush along the lash line to create an editorialized, smudged eye look. You can use an eyeliner brush to get a precise thin line or thick smoky line. You can press your fingertip into the texture and apply in a tapping motion onto the lid to create a smoky veil. Use the Air-light Setting  Powder to keep everything in place and prolong wear.

This was sent to me by Influenster as a complimentary product for testing purposes and there was no monetary compensation involved whatsoever. So, now that's out of the way, let's get on with the review. The packaging is a little different from most Laura Mercier products. The case has a rubbery feel like the Nars blush packaging. I am not usually a fan of that type of casing as it attracts dirt so easily. The palette has six shades and two textures: 3 lighter shades which are metallics and 3 darker shades which are mattes (the shades are swatched above along with their names). The quality of each clay is amazing. They are soft, creamy, easy to apply and blend. The metallics shades are easy to apply using the fingertips which I love. I like that they are pigmented with one swipe all over the lid. The matte shades are very intense, a little goes a long way. They, too, are pigmented and easy to apply. Definitely go with a light hand, especially if you are using it during the day. My only con about this particular palette is the color selection. As you can see, there is not enough variety on the matte shades. They are all very dark. It would be great to have a true brown and a lighter brown with the blackenened mix of clays. The look I created on the photo below was the only one I felt was appropriate for daytime. I think this palette is great for intense nightime looks but not daytime friendly or for people like me who prefer a more natural look on a daily basis. I would definitely purchase this for the quality, however, for its price point, I would not, only because I want more variety on the shades.

As always, regardless of whether the product is complimentary or purchased with my own money, I will always express my honest opinion and review them accordingly. Did you get this voxbox from Influenster? Did you like it? What are your thoughts?
