Product Review | Natasha Denona Sunset Palette ($129, Sephora and Beautylish website)

Product Details (from Sephora's website): An eyeshadow palette with 15 shades in Natasha Denona's signature matte, duo chrome, metallic, and chroma crystal finishes. 

Inspired by the colors of the sunset, this palette features 15 gorgeous eyeshadow shades in a combination of warm brown tones, burnt oranges, reds, golds, bronzes, and yellows. It includes all four of Natasha Denona's classic formulas in her signature chroma crystal, matte, and metallic finishes. 

This palette contains:

Review:  This palette was released on May 12, 2017 and sold out in a  matter of minutes faster than the iPhone X.  They re-stocked it around the summertime but I missed the chance of getting it around my birthday.  Finally, five months later another re-launch was set for October 26th.  This time I made sure I got one.  

I purchased mine at Beautylish.com to avoid the heavy traffic at Sephora's website.  Beautylish actually had it available on their website sometime after 9PM on October 25th.  I have to mention that Beautylish had an extremely fast delivery time as I had it in possession on October 28th.  The box packaging of the palette is a satin finish white box with a gold typography that matches the palette's compact.  The actual palette has a gold faux leather cover with the Natasha Denona Sunset Palette embossed on the front.  The inside of the palette reminds of the Inglot eyeshadow palettes which has a magnetic closure.  The palette comes with a decent sized mirror and a clear plastic insert that lists the names of the eyeshadows (see first photo).

The eyeshadow pans are slightly larger than most eyeshadow palettes I own or have seen.  It contains a variety of finishes: matte, chroma crystal, duo chrome and metallic.  These eyeshadows have a very high color pay off whether by hand/arm swatches or by application on the eye area.  These eyeshadows are very soft so expect quite a bit of fall out.  The mattes are very pigmented and are easy to apply and blend.  All the other finishes are easy to apply and blend however, in my experience, Aubade and Sundazed are best applied using the fingertips as they have a chunkier texture.  I tried applying fix plus on my brush to see if the already high pigment metallic shades can still take it to another level but it took some of the shadow away so I went back with using my fingers again.  

The photos above show my go-to warm-toned looks but this palette will be able to give anyone a variety of eye makeup options.  When I buy an eyeshadow palette (I do not have many - under ten to be exact), I always make sure that I can or will use 90% of the shades otherwise it is a pass for me.  Prior to buying this palette, I was okay with the idea that the shade "Sol" (warm matte yellow) and "Panjin" (warm matte red) were shades that I will never use.  However, as you can see on the photos above, I was able to use Sol (top gradient of the shadow that creates the sunset look) and Panjin (applied and smoked out on bottom lash line).  This means that I can and will actually use all of the shades in this palette.  However, there is no skin tone shade on this eyeshadow palette that you can use as a base to set your eyeshadow primer but that is not a deal breaker since you can use any type of powder such as a translucent powder to set it.

Would I repurchase or recommend this palette?  Say what you want to say about the cost of this palette but in my opinion it is worth every penny.  I wanted it so bad that I did not purchase any of the supposedly released dupes such as Colourpop's Yes Please palette, Sephora's Pro Palette in Warm or any other warm toned palette produced left and right.  The pigmentation of these eyeshadows are amazing and it has a great wear time as well (wore it for 9+ hours and it stayed put).  My only recommendation is that you apply your eye makeup first when you are using this palette so it is easy to clean up the fall out.  Now I understand the hype of about the quality of Natasha Denona eyeshadows.  I definitely recommend it if it fits your budget (save, save, save!) and I will be purchasing another palette from Natasha Denona, hopefully during the November VIB Sale.
