Product Review | Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Setting & Baking Powder

Product Review | Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Setting & Baking Powder in Banana ($34, Sephora)

Product Details (from Sephora's website):  The HUDA BEAUTY Easy Bake Loose Powders are inspired by Huda’s strong belief that the technique of baking is a key step to creating a flawless finish, while also ensuring long-lasting, melt-proof makeup.

Easy Bake is easy to use thanks to its unique powder net, which disperses a controlled amount of powder. By following Huda’s step-by-step guide, you’ll be able to brighten and revitalize the look of your under-eye area, while also enhancing the contours of your face—in as little as a few minutes.

This extremely light and silky texture blends seamlessly into the skin, leaving it matte with a hint of sheen for a luminous finish that controls shine throughout the day.

HUDA BEAUTY created eight shades of Easy Bake, packed with ultra-refined pigments, to ensure the right fit for all skin tones. The powders work to subtly color correct and highlight different contours of the face, leaving a translucent veil of color on your skin—so you can bake, without the cake.

Review:  When Huda Beauty came out with the Faux Filter Foundation and Primer last fall, I excited and purchased both items on its release day.  Unfortunately, both products were overwhelmingly scented and irritated my skin.  When this loose powder came out, I gave the Huda Beauty line a second chance.  After all, we could all use one.  What intrigued me the most was the finish of the powder based on YouTube reviews (let me tell you that regardless of how the Faux Filter Foundation irritated my skin, it provided a flawless finish).

It comes in its traditional Huda Beauty packaging - a black box with magenta and silver typography.  The powder is housed in a square plastic tin.  The product is dispensed through a netting to control the mess and a plastic black cap to go over it.  Packaging wise, you can take this with you when you travel.  However, I do not like how the product has to be dispensed through the netting.  While it aims to control the mess, I think it makes more mess due to the frequent tapping of the net to get the product out.  Maybe this does not bother others, but for me it is another unnecessary step when all I want to do is get the powder out.

This powder is scented.  It is similar to the scent for their foundation but lighter.  I am allergic to scents and I was afraid this will be another return to Sephora.  To my surprise, the scent fades away easily.  The powder is extremely soft - one of the softest powder formulas I have tried.  I do not bake underneath the eyes or anywhere else on my face but I use this to dust underneath the eye area and on the perimeters of the face.  It has a beautiful finish but leaves your make up locked but without the matte and cakey look.  This powder sets beautifully on the skin and it is definitely long-wearing.  I definitely recommend this powder although if you are sensitive to scents, I say go in-store and see if the fragrance is something you can tolerate.  I also think it is reasonably priced compared to other loose powders.  As always, I recommend that you get this (or any item that you'd like to try) during the VIB Sale to save some money.
