Product Review | Marc Jacobs Shameless Youthful-Look 24HR Foundation SPF 25 in Shade 360 ($46, Sephora)

Product Details (from Sephora's website): An innovative, medium-coverage foundation with up to 24-hour wear, flashback-free SPF 25, and hydrating skincare benefits for a natural, youthful look.  This oil-free, weightless formula has the perfect level of coverage for flexibility across the shade range, and contains a first-to-market technology that encapsulates the SPF. This makes the SPF visibly undetectable, resulting in no flashback in photos and no ashy grey undertones.

Review:  I had the Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Supercharged Foundation a while back.  I loved the formula but was not too keen on their shade range.  I was hesitant to purchase this foundation when it launched and I eventually learned that it had a better shade selection this time around.  I am not about the 24hr claims of any foundation, but anything that claims natural, weightless and enhances a youthful look, I am drawn to.

The product comes in its typical black and white box packaging with white typography.  The bottle is a square with rounded edges plastic squeeze tube type of material and black twist cap.  Honestly, I think for $46, they could have done this with a glass bottle or at least a heavy weight acrylic container.  The packaging feels cheap in my opinion, but it is compact and perfect for traveling.  The consistency is thin and can be easily dispensed though the squeeze bottle.  It is lightweight, easy to blend and it sinks into the skin nicely not on top of it.  This claims that it is a medium coverage foundation, I believe it can be built up to that but due to its consistency, on first application, it is light coverage which is what I live for.  It has a nice natural finish and it stays on for a good regular work day wear (8+ hours).   This foundation did not break me out or moved throughout the day.  It also worked well with all of the primers that I have.  While it gave my skin a natural finish, it did not make it oily which is great because it claims to be oil-free.  It will be awful if a foundation made me oily especially that I have normal to dry skin during cooler months.  Now this also claims that it will hold up to 24 hours of wear.  I honestly do not wear my foundation that long, so I cannot attest to this claim.  It also says that the SPF it contains is undetectable and does not produce flashbacks.  I hardly ever take flash photography on a day to day basis so this is not something I can give my opinion on.  Aside from that, I really enjoy this foundation especially that they have revamped their shade range.  Would I say that you should go run and get this foundation, my answer is no, if you prefer a full coverage wear and if you already have something similar.  If you are like me and prefer a light coverage 90% of the time, I say yes.
