Product Review | Anastasia Beverly Hills Ultimate Glow Kit Holiday Edition 2016

Anastasia Beverly Hills Ultimate Glow Kit, Holiday 2016 Limited Edition ($45, Sephora and Ulta) : Taken from Ulta's Website, "Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit Ultimate Glow contains six metallic powder highlighters for intense luminosity. Complementing shades can be layered together or worn separately. Results are flawlessly incandescent.  Ultimate Glow is a highly blendable, ultra-fine formula that won't leave shimmer particles; Apply with a damp makeup brush for more glow.

Shades include:
  • Snow (true icy white w/ platinum effect)
  • White Sand (warm beige w/ gold reflect)
  • Golden Dawn (warm amber w/ gold reflect)
  • Sunray (warm copper w/ peach gold lustre)
  • Amber Gold (warm rose w/ gold lustre)
  • Hot Sand (warm bronze w/ amber lustre)

In my opinion, Anastasia Beverly Hills (ABH) makes one of the best highlighters in the market. Their single ones are a very generous pan size at $28. Their previous glow kits sets with the large pan sizes with 4 highlighters are priced at $40. This Ultimate Glow Kit with six highlighters and very decent pan sizes retails for $45. You cannot beat this price for high end highlighting palettes. You can dip your brushes on one or two pans and customize a color of your choice. The top three highlighters may be a good match for those with lighter skin tones and the bottom ones for darker skin tones. However, if your skin tone is like mine, all these shades will work well for you. It is very versatile.

I do find that these highlighters have very prominent shimmers, in my opinion. They feel very gritty. If you have textures on your skin, this highlighting palette will accentuate your problematic skin areas. I prefer using my fingers and blending them on the cheekbones than using a brush. I feel that the shimmers can get all over the place sometimes with the use of a brush. This is a different formulation that the ABH single highlighters such as So Hollywood, Riviera, Peach Nectar and Spotlight, and apparently, the other Glow Kits.

I have owned this palette for a week now and have used it almost everyday. Since I have an even skin tone and do not have any texture issues, the highlighters apply easily (my preferred application is the use of fingers) and blend nicely on my skin, but the fact that using a brush leaves the glitter particles sitting on a clump is a huge down fall.  I will be returning this palette.
