Product Review | Marc Jacobs Gel Genius Super-Charged Oil Free Foundation
Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Super-Charged Oil Free Foundation in Golden Deep 46 ($48, Sephora)
According to the Sephora website, this is a breakthrough gel foundation that’s antiaging, long-wearing, and awakens your skin to its ideal radiance and clarity. It is formulated with lifestyle ingredients and Buoyancy Gel™ technology, Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation creates a weightless, natural veil that never settles into fine lines. An infusion of Soft Focus Powder reflects light to minimize imperfections, while revitalizing multi-vitamins provide supreme hydration for even application and luxurious wear. This versatile formula builds easily from natural to full coverage,
providing supreme hydration for a radiant finish.
I have always wanted to try this foundation, but given the price, I decided to wait until the 20% VIB Rouge Sale at Sephora earlier in November. When I opened the bottle, I was afraid that the "Golden Deep" shade was not deep enough to match my skintone. However, since it has a more yellow and golden undertone to it, I am able to make it work by using a darker powder or bronzer to set it. It is extremely lightweight and feels like second skin. It has a light/natural coverage. If you want a full coverage foundation, this is not for you. It is easy to apply and blend with a brush (I use the Marc Jacobs Face III brush) and/or a Beauty Blender. It does have a slight smell but it is not irritating at all or linger for a long time. It wears all day, in my opinion, especially if you love that light and natural coverage on your skin.
The packaging is simple and classy. I love the weightes frosted glass bottle and the black top cover. The pump is always a plus. Despite the price, I would repurchase this foundation. I just love the smooth application and the way it feels on the skin as well as the way it makes my skin looking very refreshed and hydrated without a full coverage use.
